After the Torus Labs co-founder has publicly announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 after attending Ethereum conferences, 6 new cases of the pandemic have been confirmed among the conference participants.
In total, 7 great developers from the Ethereum community have been diagnosed with the COVID-19 after participating in the EthCC conference held in Paris on March 3-5, 2020. When the Torus Labs co-founder, Zhen Yu Yong, disclosed his COVID-19 status 3 days ago, he urged everyone who also attended the conference to get tested.
Indeed, some of the participants listened to his advice and got tested. Last night, 6 more attendees of the Paris conference have reported positive diagnosis of the COVID-19 pandemic. At press time, the list of infected EthCC guests from the Ethereum community are as follows:
1. Zhen Yu Yong of Torus Labs; 2. Afri Shoedon, an independent developer; 3. Jacques Dafflon, author of ERC-777 token standard; 4. Marco of Gnosis PM; 5. Johannes Pfeffer of Atpar.io; 6. Werner Jacob, investment banker and crypto enthusiast. The 7th case was reported by Lefteris Karapetsas of Rotki but refused to disclose the name of the infected person.
Looking at the rate at which new case of the COVID-19 are being reported among EthCC conference participants, suspending major crypto events was a step in the right direction. New York regulators have recently requested for COVID-19 preparedness plans from all crypto businesses under its jurisdiction.
